RED WILDER BLUE

1970 - 1974

~These tracks were recorded 50 years ago between 1973 & 74 in the band's rehearsal hall on an old TEAC 4 track tape recorder using bar microphones. Originally intended to be demos for their second Warner Pentagram label, little did they know it would be their last recordings ever..

Red Wilder Blue was an extremely popular Rock Band in the early 70's club scene of Hermosa/Redondo Beach and the surrounding communities, with a literal 'line around the block' everywhere they performed. Al Schmitt (The Jefferson Airplane, Steely Dan, etc) was producing, Bill Siddons (The Doors) was managing, and they had a 5-year contract with Pentagram (Warner Bros) Records.

Mack Tubb, Danny Wilder & Mike (Michael) Ballew started the band by rehearsing for 4 months before even considering a gig. One of the first songs they learned (the last cut on this album) was an acapella version of "Because" by The Beatles, and they knew they were on to something good. The first audition they did was at the Redondo Beach bar 'Pier 52' and were hired on the spot to perform every Sunday evening. Within weeks, the bar couldn't contain the following they were gathering, so the owner bought a beachfront property on The Strand and built the showroom "Schlumpfelders", where RWB played for 'standing room only' crowds until 1974 when the band went the way of so many great bands, and broke up ~
